Bidfood’s depot in Lee Mill have chosen to support Veterans In Action as their chosen charity partner for 2018. Over the next year, the depot have planned an array of fun-filled activities in order to raise money for VIA. Some of the events planned are a charity golf day, a family cycle ride, a big outdoor BBQ as well as regular cake sales and monthly raffles.
Talking about the sponsorship, Christine Hartley, Customer Service Supervisor at Bidfood’s Lee Mill depot said, “We are proud to be sponsoring this amazing charity! Plymouth being a military city, has a lot of military and ex-military citizens living in the area, therefore this charity is something that is very close to our hearts.
We have already had an overwhelming response for the charity events that we are organising, with high levels of interest for not only them but for the events that VIA are also organising”.
Chief Operations Officer of VIA, Billy MacLeod said, “After meeting with Christine from Bidfood last year who kindly supplied us with homemade flapjacks when our team was walking around the South West Coast Path we felt she had a real understanding of the work we do and it came as a very welcome surprise when she informed us that our name was being put forward as the chosen charity partner for 2018.
As an organisation we have worked in this area many times on long-distance walking expeditions with veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and we have been welcomed with open arms and understanding about who we help and why. We would like to grow our relationship with not only Bidfood in this area but also with the many organisations and businesses who support the many veterans living in the area.
We look forward to hearing much more about all the organised events and of course any pictures and stories which we will share through our network and social media”.
